Martina Trottmann costume design & haute-couture.
Martina is a calming influence on any artistic process. She was inventive, imaginative and considerate with her designs.
Her ability for detail under pressure was essential in a quick turn around; I would highly recommend Martina for her collaborative design instincts and her exquisitely made costumes.
THEATRE & EVENTS
My involvement in Theatre and Events range from small scale fringe theatre like the Charles Court Opera to big events such as Secret Cinema, conceptualizing and creating a vision and world for each character through research and a collaborative approach with the creative team.
My interest in this specialized field lie in how the costume can be used as a sculptural, often abstract and painting like element within a performance and alongside the dancer. Working with many different established choreographers at Laban Conservatoire of Contemporary Dance for four years I have found a strong vision for dancewear, exploring the possibilities of costumes in motion. Other companies I worked with include Intoto, StopGap, Made by Katie Green, Stage of Emergency, Kerry Nichols for Rambert School of Dance, Hubert Essakov for the English National Ballet.
Working in film I was recently involved as costume designer for 'Wraps' a short film for Channel 33 productions (released soon), costume maker for ‘I Give It A Year’ directed by Dan Mazer (2013) and as a costume daily for Itv”s upcoming ‘Murder On The Home Front’ directed by Geoffrey Sax.
Immersed in haute-couture for over 15 years I made innumerous outfits working from my own studio in Zurich, Lima and currently London. My services range from design to fabric suggestions and choice, developing made to measure patterns to the completed garment itself. I take especial pride in determining the needs of the client and combining this with providing a highly detailed and precise finish.
